"Hooded for Justice" march in Murphysboro

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -  A "Hooded For Justice" march was organized by a Murphysboro woman to show support for Trayvon Martin.

Martin was shot and killed on Sunday, February 26 in Florida.

The march will be held on Sunday April 1.   The meeting time is 5 p.m. at the Murphysboro Walgreens.   Marchers will walk from Walgreens down to the Subway restaurant and back.

Organizer Dericia Johnson says she is a lifelong resident of Murphysboro.  She says another reason for the march is to "also bring awareness back to our small community that this is not only a city problem, but this can happen anywhere."

Arnold Wyrick will have more from Murphysboro tonight on Heartland News.
