MoDOT launches Missouri Pothole Patrol

(KFVS) - At the Missouri Department of Transportation, the arrival of spring means crews turn their attention to the potholes that “spring” forth as temperatures change.

The department has initiated a statewide “Missouri Pothole Patrol,” which is a month-long effort for MoDOT to concentrate on patching potholes and keeping highways smooth and safe for drivers.

“The goal of this effort is to patch potholes as quickly as possible and get us through the transition to warmer weather,” said Elizabeth Wright, MoDOT state maintenance engineer. “MoDOT has dedicated staff and resources to repair minor road damage quickly, but we need the public’s help to spot those potholes and let us know where they are.”

The Missouri Pothole Patrol runs from March 18 through April 14.

MoDOT says there are multiple ways for drivers can report potholes:

Dexter couple was aboard disabled cruise ship in the Caribbean

DEXTER, MO (KFVS)- More troubles with the world's largest cruise line-Carnival Cruise. This time it involved a Heartland couple from Dexter was aboard the ship.

They say although power had been restored and facilities were functioning again, the ship still couldn't leave port.

The dream was in St. Maarten on the final stop of a Caribbean cruise when the crew announced it would not be sailing back out.

According to the company, it was a technical issue with its backup emergency diesel generator.

The couple believes the media may have exaggerated the problems.

"I wouldn't change it," said Tammie Jackson. "Even knowing today if I walked aboard and didn't know we'd go down, not that I would want to go down at sea, but I wouldn't change it. It was an experience of a lifetime."

About 4,300 guests were aboard the dream along with about 1,300 crewmembers.

Missouri farmers now have to tag dairy cattle

Missouri farmers now have to tag dairy cattle

(KFVS) - On Monday many sale barn owners found out about new federal tagging requirements.

Handed down by the United States Department of Agriculture, the regulations require livestock owners to obtain veterinary inspection, register and tag certain animals that will be shipped out of state. The idea is to make it easier to trace animal ownership.

The Missouri Department of Agriculture says:

"In January 2013, the USDA published a final rule establishing regulations for improving disease traceability of U.S. livestock moving interstate. As a leading state for producing high quality livestock, it is vital that Missouri producers, livestock markets, veterinarians and others in the livestock industry be aware of the new regulations and apply them throughout the state. The regulations include:
