SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS)- The Missouri Highway Patrol reported around 17 wrecks in three counties Tuesday afternoon.

Trooper Clark Parrott with the Missouri Highway Patrol says they worked or had pending 17 wrecks in the areas of Stoddard, Dunklin, and New Madrid counties.

He says the roads are dry in Poplar Bluff, but east of Poplar Bluff some roads are slick.

Parrott encourages drivers to slow down, stay off cell phones and watch for emergency vehicles.

He says there are no severe wrecks at this time, but mostly slide offs.

Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash on Interstate 55.

It happened near the 71 mile marker in the southbound lanes.

Traffic is moving, but slowly.

No word on any injuries.
