Death investigation in Stoddard County | News

DEXTER, MO (KFVS)- A death investigation is underway in Stoddard County.

Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner says a person found a body late Thursday afternoon off County Road 403 north of Dexter.

It was next to a wooded area and appears to have been there awhile. A man was mowing in the area and found the remains around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The major case squad was activated, and the male body was sent to St. Louis for an autopsy.

No word on who this might be or how the man died.

There was a report of a missing person in the area.

Sheriff Hefner says at this point it does not look suspicious, but an investigation continues.
