CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The American Red Cross, Southern Missouri Region, announced their response numbers for the last 12 months.
The Red Cross says they have helped more that 2,600 people affected by flood and fire this past year from July 1 2012 to July 1, 2013.
Over 800 cases were opened and an average of 7 people were helped daily.
That compares to more than 730 cases during the 2010-11 fiscal year.
More than 1000 of these are children 18 and younger, with nearly half of them under the age of 6.
Forty-five percent of those helped were homeowners, with only 28 percent having insurance.
