Bernie teens arrested for arson | Crime
BERNIE, MO (KFVS) - Stoddard County Sheriff's deputies arrested two Bernie teens for arson.
Sahara Megan Cobb, 17, of Bernie and Allissa Wilhite, 18, were both charged with 2nd degree arson.
According to the probable cause statement, police dispatch got a phone tip on Monday that Cobb and another female juvenile burned down the Bernie City Park Pavilion.
Court documents show after responding to a shoplifting call at Dollar General, Sgt. Patrick Cole read Wilhite the Miranda warning and questioned her about the fire. Police say Wilhite told them she and Cobb, along with the juvenile were bored and set fire to the pavilion.
According to the probable cause statement, Wilhite told police the juvenile used a lighter to set the fire while Cobb was instructing her.
The juvenile confessed to the crime after being questioned by police and a county juvenile officer.
After questioning Cobb, police say she said the three wanted to do something "crazy."
Police say Cobb suggested that they set fire to the trash can under the pavilion while at the park, but did not go through with it.
According to court documents, Cobb told police that the juvenile took a lighter and set the fire while she and Wilhite watched out for vehicles.
Cobb was released on $2000 bond.
