Cape Girardeau hospital buys land in Dexter for 'outreach healthcare facility' | Community Spirit
DEXTER, MO (KFVS) - A Cape Girardeau hospital announced Thursday, September 12 that it has bought 18 acres of land in Dexter.
Saint Francis Healthcare System said the land is located at U.S. 60 Outer Road and Harris Drive. They say they will build an outreach healthcare facility on the site.
“We are very excited about this opportunity in Dexter. We have spoken with several community leaders and local physicians who look forward to a Saint Francis presence in their community,” said Steven C. Bjelich, FACHE-D, President and Chief Executive Officer at Saint Francis.
Current plans call for ambulatory services, primary care, rehabilitation therapies and wellness. Specific building plans will be revealed at a later date.
“Most healthcare industry leaders agree that the future in healthcare is not more hospital beds, but healthcare that is delivered close to home or at home. It will concentrate on keeping people healthier and out of the hospital. Through our strategic planning and outreach, Saint Francis is uniquely positioned to work more closely with the people in Dexter to meet their healthcare needs,” Bjelich said.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
